First model shoot in film with the lovely Lixi Love.

Shot these all with my Canon Rebel EOS 2000 with Ektar 100 color film by Kodak. It was a test shoot (I wanted to see how the film would work in low light), so there’s less shots than I would have liked. Next time that will be rectified.

Only editing done was on some particularly distracting dust spots, a couple small spot color corrections and slight playing with warmth. Otherwise it’s all the film.

I’d say this experiment turned out well.

Was curious to see what all the Instagram filters (minus the B&W one) would do to a single photo. The result: It looks like a nuclear bomb is going off in the background. Up until I hit Sutro, the photo wasn’t looking half bad either.

Recently, I came into possession of a free Canon Rebel 2000 SLR. I had a few rolls over, and always wanted to go back into working with film. Luckily the Rally to Restore Sanity was coming up and I had a scanner I could scan photo negatives with. To be honest, I like these results a lot better than what I get from digital. I like the warmth of the shots, the grain of ISO 400 film (Ilford Delta, fyi), as well as how little editing I need to do (the Ilford captures contrast much better than a digital photo, which requires a lot of touching up). Really nice ocean and beach photos. The Seagull one particularly tickles my fancy.
